Pat Smith, NSW My addiction to cigarettes lasted forty years and the hardest part of giving up smoking, was having cigarettes so visible. It was impossible to avoid them. Everywhere I turned there they were, in brightly coloured packets, wrapped up in cellophane, looking as enticing as a box of chocolates. Today, we know what devastation cigarettes cause. We know they kill!! The shock of hearing the words "YOU HAVE LUNG CANCER" is horrifying and right now, although my future is uncertain, I would like to think the future of our young people and all those who are trying so hard to stop smoking, would be more secure. Let's make cigarettes less visible; get rid of all the temptations; put then under the counter and out of sight. That's where they belong, NOT up there with the chocolates.
