Tobacco
took my mum
Jan Maessen, Ballina NSW
Karen (Gladys Marjorie) Fathers - died of lung
cancer 1995, aged 65
My Mum was an addicted smoker and smoked at least
two packets of cigarettes a day. The amount smoked only decreased in the
last couple of months she was alive as she was then too ill to continue
with her habit.
If it wasn't for the companies that produce these vile drugs I would
still have my lovely Mum with me today.
Towards the end she lapsed into a coma which lasted for about thirty-six
hours. During that time all the nicotine substance that had been lining
her lungs bubbled up through her nose and her mouth. The stench is
something that will remain in my memory until the day I die.
I miss her terribly and wish I could have her back but of course, I know
that can never be. I am sending you this memorial request (see Smokers'
Memorial) in her memory and for the memory of all those smokers who
have passed away. Thank you.
