SmokeFree
Australia
Coalition for safe
workplaces
is an alliance of employee and health groups
aiming to reduce harm from secondhand smoke
by making all Australian workplaces safely smokefree as soon as possible - No
excuses, no exemptions.
Secondhand smoke kills. It's toxic and
carcinogenic - and there's no safe exposure level.
But work safety authorities are turning a blind eye to it.
Despite welcome changes,
thousands of Australian workers are still required to work day after day,
night after night, exposed to some of the most toxic, carcinogenic substances
known.
If it was anything other than tobacco, there'd be ministerial resignations
and page one headlines.
Imagine the outcry if we'd
"managed" asbestos like this !!
