SmokeFree
Australia
Coalition for safe
workplaces
is an alliance of employee and health groups
aiming to reduce harm from secondhand smoke ("SHS")
by making all Australian workplaces safely smokefree as soon as possible - No
excuses, no exemptions.
Our
bottom line:
No-one should be working in any area where smoking is permitted or into which it
drifts.
SHS kills. It's toxic and
carcinogenic - and there's no safe exposure level.
But some work safety authorities are turning a blind eye to it.
Despite welcome changes,
thousands of Australian workers are still working day after day,
night after night, exposed to some of the most toxic, carcinogenic substances
known.
If it was anything other than tobacco, there'd be ministerial resignations
and page one headlines.
Imagine the outcry if we'd
"managed" airborne asbestos like this !!
